Beer is good. It’s been around for thousands of years, dating back to the currency that the Jews were paid in for building the Great Pyramids. It has more styles than any other drink out there. Beer is a byproduct of insane amounts of knowledge, control and creativity. For all of the above reasons, it’s a drink that can be explored ceaselessly.
It first caught my attention in 2009, wondering why so many people drank it. I thought it was bad. Turns out, I had a lot of excuses to think it was bad – Coors Light, Bud Light, Miller Light, Corona and Heineken didn’t give me any excuses to like it. New Belgium’s Fat Tire was the first beer that I personally thought was decent.
A trip to my local brewery, The Bruery, changed everything. Belgian influences, massive ABV, crazy recipes, it was all different. Over the last 7 years I’ve gone on a crazy beer journey and am fortunate to have tried at least 2,000 from 6 different continents. I’m currently exploring the craft beer scene in San Diego.
